A B O U T

Dark Castle Entertainment was first formed by famous movie producers; Joel Silver, Robert Zemeckis and Gilbert Adler, after their intentional goal was to keep the spirit of William Castle alive by updating and modernizing his films into newer, scarier stories. Their first film debuted in 1999 and was a remake of the late Castle's 1959 version House on Haunted Hill. With the success of their first movie, Dark Castle then went on to remake Castle's 1960's movie of 13 Ghosts, with a more up to date tale of their own. Trying something new for once, the creators behind Dark Castle wanted to give it a go at originality, and created Ghost Ship, which was a story not created by William Castle, but a tale of their own set out on the high seas. Their next film, Gothika, was another original tale, but in 2005, Dark Castle went back to its roots and remade Castle's House of Wax, another film that the great Vincent Price stared in.

Since their creation, Dark Castle has not only tried their share of remakes and originals, but starting early 2008, they've branched out with not only doing adaptations in the comic world (their first adaptation being the comic Whiteout,) but they've gone off into the action category with the new Guy Ritchie film RockNRolla. In more recent news, Dark Castle aims on releasing fifteen films within the next six years in both theatre realizes and direct-to-DVD. As of now, the only sequel in store for the Dark Castle francise is Return to House on Haunted Hill, but as of now, there are no plans to do any more sequels.

F.A.Q

Why did you create this website?
Being a fan of their movie, House on Haunted Hill, when it first came out in theatres, I didn't really take notice of Dark Castle until Thir13en Ghosts debuted the following two years, and once I found out it was the same company that made my favorite movie, I was instantly hooked and thus proceeded to look online for sites that'd help me better further my knowledge of this production company that brought such fun movies. With such little information out, and various sites scattered all over the web with just one movie as its main focus, I felt it necessary to make one website with all of Dark Castle's films, plus some other fun stuff.

Who works and owns this site?
Well, so far it's just a twenty three year old girl with a degree in graphic design who goes by the name of April. She's a fan (and possibly a bit obsessed) of horror, and when not working long hours at a veterinary hospital, she tries to work on the site as much as possible. But with all the things that have been happening in real life, the site has been severely lagging, and she apologizes greatly for that.

She has a co-mod who helps her gather information and find images, and her name is Tynelle. She owns a wonderfully informative House on Haunted Hill Fansite that is also affiliated with this site.

What programs did you use to create this site?
A couple of things went into making this site. Firstly, I work on a iMAC OSX computer and as far as the programs; I used Photoshop for the images and graphic design work, Dreamweaver for the layout (which as a big help,) and then of course HTML when Dreamweaver was being incorporative and I had to fix the coding manually.

Can I help with the site?
Sure, any contribution or information is needed and a pleasure to have. You'll always be credited for what you've found, be it; photo, link, or just about anything. Just give us a name, and if you want, an email.

Do you know anyone in Dark Castle and its movies?
NO! I've mentioned this dozens of times and even put it in a disclaimer, I know no one within the company. I've only met one person who has worked with Dark Castle, and I doubt he knows of this site. Hell, I doubt any of the people from Dark Castle know of my site, but I'd be honored if they did. As stated previously, I'm just a fan who wanted a site dedicated to the films of Dark Castle because I'm a geek like that and admire their work.

I'm grateful that many people emailing me seem to think that, but this is just a fansite that I'm making no money from and am doing this out of my spare time (with what little time I do have.)

Can I use the pictures and information provided for my own site?
I don't see why not. Most photos in the gallery and information provided where obtained from other sites, but if you want to take graphics (made images such as; art, and icons) or any of the music in the soundtrack section, then that's a different story. You must give credit if you take. No exceptions.
